About us -- the people that created NEAir and what it is The people that created NEAir - North Eastern Airlines are a collection of 9 guys ageing from 35 to 70. Coming from many walks of life between school teacher and tombstone maker with varying degrees of skills in communications, programming and graphics. The main thing we all have in common is a love of flying. More so we enjoy having fun with other people who enjoy flying. Mostly everyone involved at NEAir comes from another virtual world of Train Simulation where we worked for over 6 years developing virtual railroads as well as equipment, routes, scenery and activities. Simulations are a lot of fun. We have brought our knowledge and experience from the virtual railroading world to the virtual airline world as a combined entity called the NERR Network. North Eastern Airlines - NEAir - was created with the intention to give other PC Pilots (flight simmers) a place to have fun. A place where they can learn and meet other people who also like to fly in the MS Flight Simulator environment. A place to give the flight simming a purpose. The purpose is presented as a virtual airline where you become a pilot and employee for the NEAir. As an employee you work out of a hub that you choose. Your work of course is flying airplanes, but flying from a list of flights that are available to your hub. As you build up your hours you attain rank and a virtual bank account that contains your paychecks. You have a logbook of all your flights and a portfolio showing your accomplishments. All of these details are entered into a system that NEAir has programmed called NEPS, which is the North Eastern Pirep System. As you fly a flight from your hub's listing of flights, you enter a Pirep (Pilot's Report) and the data is stored in a database. Flights are of 3 types at NEAir. 1. Non-Stop - from point a to point b. They consist of a set of flights. From point A to point B, then from point B to point A. This equals 2 flights or a flightline. 2. Charters - are a collection flights going from your hub to a series of other airports, but always ending up back at your hub. 3. Layovers - are similar to Charters except they are designed to model real world flight schedules. As a charter you start at your hub, fly to a destination but have a lay-over at another airport in between. You then fly back to your hub. There are 5 categories of aircraft available from the small C172 to the huge B52. Once you have attained 40 hours of flight you will have access to the entire fleet and be able to fly any plane on any flight. The NEAir was designed to grow. We have entered many flightlines and charters for the hubs, but there are also user utilities that allow a pilot to create flightlines and charters and submit them to fly them himself. You basically will not be restricted as to where you can fly. If the flight you want isn't in the system, create it yourself. To sum it all up, we have tried to create an environment where you can fly and enjoy it by flying what and where you want to fly while also making the airline grow and live. Forums, FSHost and Teamspeak servers and Training Aids are all available for your use and enjoyment. So whether you have FS9 or FSX we like to think that you will enjoy playing here with us at our virtual airline. Click the Join Up link and give it a try.
